SPELLING BEE

Teasley’s annual Spelling Bee will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 8:15 in the cafeteria.  Parents of participants are invited to attend.  The winner of the Teasley Spelling Bee will advance to the Cobb County Spelling Bee that will be held on January 27, 2018.

Vedaant and Farhan will be representing our class in the Teasley Spelling Bee. We wish you both the best of luck!!

To celebrate the end of school for 2017 and the beginning of Winter Break, students will be allowed to wear an Ugly Sweater on Tuesday, December 19^th if they would like.  Please make sure your child wears it with Standard School Attire on the bottom. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Calling All Judges!

The Teasley Science Fair is just around the corner and we need your help.  We are looking for parents who would like to judge science fair projects on Monday, January 22.  If you are interested in judging projects, please email Laura Kraftschik at laura.kraftschik@cobbk12.orgfor more information. 

If your child tried out for the Talent Show, they will find out the results by Wednesday.

Tuesday and Wednesday are Early Release days with dismissal at 12:30.

Reading: Understanding text structure.  We are focusing on Compare/Contrast and Description.  We will have a quiz on Friday. on being able to identify all text structures (Cause/Effect, Problem/Solution, Sequence, Compare/Contrast, and Description) on Friday.  Students received an anchor chart at the beginning of this unit which they glued into their Reading Journals of keywords for each text structure.

The Teasley Attendance Team wants to reward those students who come to school ready to learn and on time every day. Any student who has perfect attendance through the end of the 2^nd 9 weeks, Wednesday, December 20^th, will receive recognition for their attendance. These students will receive a free dress down day, a special treat, and a brag tag for their bookbags. Students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will be invited to a special celebration during the last week of school to praise their commitment to their education. Hello Parent’s,

Our Recorder Karate unit is coming to an end.  The last day to test any song is November 28th.

After this date student grades will calculated for report card grading.  After the 28th, students have not tested will receive a zero for incomplete testing.

Please take a minute tonight to check your child’s recorder folder.  If your child has alerts in their folder that have not been signed, please sign them tonight.  Academic Alerts will be sent home next week for students who are in danger of failing music.  If you have any questions about grading, all procedures are outlined in the parent letter and rubric sent home at the beginning of the unit.  You can also check out the Recorder Karate link on my website, www.musicatteasley.org

Important Information:

I was very excited to announce to the class today that we are planning to take a field trip to see the movie, Wonder, on December 7th.  Since this is an off-campus field trip, we want to inform parents/guardians that if a child is written up for any reason between now (October 16th) to December 7th, that child will not be allowed to attend the field trip on December 7th.  Our hope is that all students are in attendance on December 7th.

Hello Parents,

It is with excitement that I let you know that we have started our Recorder Karate unit.  This is an ongoing until the end of 2017.  All students in 4th and 5th grades are required to play the recorder.  By now you should have all signed and returned a Recorder Karate letter with a rubric and objectives outlined for the unit.  Students are asked to practice six days for 15 minutes.  This is how your child’s grade will be determined for this nine weeks.  Failure to turn in practice logs and test recorder songs will result in a failing grade.  Therefore, your child always has homework which are practicing their Recorder Karate songs.

Please help me assist your child with their music playing.  I know as a team the both of us can help your child achieve a level of playing that they will be very happy with.

If you have questions, first please refer to parent letter in your child’s music folder and then email me if your question is not addressed in the letter.

Thank you, parents, for getting your child to school on time every day!  Your child is allowed to dress down this Wednesday, October 11th and will receive a Chick-fil-A coupon for a free ice cream.  The count for the 2nd quarter is on and we would love to have at least half the class receive perfect attendance.
