Field Trip Information:
Cobb FIRE SAFETY Village
January 23rd (9:15-1:30-approx.)
Parent/Guardians:
Please help your child to prepare for the Fire Safety Village field trip by reading the following:
·Please make sure your child has on comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
·Make sure that your child is prepared for the weather that day. About 45 minutes of the experience is done outside.
·Please make sure to send your child with lunch in a disposable bagwith his or her name written on it if he or she chooses to bring his/her own lunch. Lunch boxes may not be taken into the Safety Village.
·Other students purchasing lunch from school will get a sack lunch to take with them.
(Lunch orders will be taken prior to the trip for these students)
·We leave promptly at 9:15 and will return approximately at 1:30.
We
are changing things up a bit for the second semester. Instead of students
keeping track of a Reading Log Monday-Thursday, I will have students keep track
of a Typing Log.
We live in a world where technology will continue to shape
our daily and professional lives. Students must be proficient in
keyboarding skills as they canimpact a
person's ability to communicate with others in the future, both socially and
professionally.
For
today's homework, I've asked that the students sign up for an account on https://www.typingclub.com/. This
is a free website that will allow students to practice keyboarding skills at
their own pace. Students will first take a placement test and then based
on their current level, the program will "unlock" lessons. I
showed students where to find the placement test on the website this morning.
I
will give students a Typing Log tomorrow and just like the Reading Log used in
the past, students will need to get a parent/guardian signature each night
after completing their practice of 15 minutes. As with any other online
homework assignment, if a student is unable to complete the assignment at
home, a parent must send in a written note and the student can complete it in
the classroom before the bell rings the following day.
If
you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
christy.rice@cobbk12.org.
Thanks,
Mrs.
Rice

These students will have a free dress down day on Thursday, January 11th.
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Coming to school every dayon-time is
a key ingredient to student success. As we jump into the 2nd half of
our school year, the Teasley Attendance Team wants to reward those students who
come to school on time every day. Students who have perfect attendance
at the end of the third 9 weeks, ending on Wednesday, March 14th, will receive
a free dress down day, a surprise treat, and a brag tag for their bookbag.
Furthermore, those students who have perfect attendance for the entire school
year will have the opportunity to participate in a end of year celebration
during the last week of school. Thank you so much for your support with getting
your student to school on time every day.
The school-wide Spelling Bee will be on Friday, January 12th. I want to wish Vedaant and Farhan the best of luck as they represent our class in this Spelling Bee!
Throughout the month, we will be learning about safety. Our learning will culminate with a field trip to Safety Village on January 23rd. There is NO COST for the field trip. Students will be bringing home a permission form AND a liability waiver from Safety Village. Both must be completely filled out and returned by January 12th. On the day of the field trip, please have your child wear their class t-shirt, sneakers and standard attire bottoms.
